An Inspector of the British police is called upon to investigate the seemingly inconsequential robberies involving twelve European noble families. He discovers that each of the families has an artifact passed on to them by  a common ancestor. He must work quickly and decipher the messages coded in them before three ancient seers rob the families of their inheritance.
